In addition, a letter of invitation from a government or non-government organization that will cover the entire cost of the visit, or proof of having at least 500 US dollars in cash equivalent (cash or debit/credit card) must also be submitted.
The director of the immigration department informed that the new rules have been implemented due to the increase in cases of fraud in the name of visit visa, fake documents and going abroad and hiding there. The department believes that this will stop the distortion that is happening in the name of visit visa.
Previously, the Immigration Act 2049, regulations and guidelines are not clear about what a visit visa is. There is only tourist visa. Therefore, in the year 2078, an attempt was made to clarify the 17-point criteria related to visit visas through the secretary-level decision. “After the implementation of 17 points, more and more distortions started to appear,” Director Dahal told Online News.
